Yesterday, Kensington Palace released Meghan and Harry’s official engagement portraits as a holiday gift to us all. They were shot by Alexi Lubomirski who’s done a lot of celebrity and fashion photography, at Frogmore House, Windsor. They look so happy, particularly in the third picture which was an outtake they released.
These are gorgeous and intimate, and definitely a departure from past royal engagement portraits. But then again, Harry has always done things differently – as the “spare” he has more latitude to put his stamp on things, rather than take directive from The Firm.
I like Meghan’s dress a lot, although they look like they’re dressed for two different parties, and I am also very over the sheer trend. The gown is Ralph and Russo Winter 2016, costs $75,000, and was likely lined before she wore it if the Palace had anything to say about it.
Any good royal watcher worth their salt is of course wondering who Meghan will enlist to design her wedding dress, and Ralph and Russo is the first designer she’s worn who actually dabbles in bridal wear. They actually might be a good bet – it’s a British line, they know their way around a wedding gown, and they’re beloved by the fashion elite. If Meghan’s sending us a sign, It’s one I could definitely get on board with!
