From the highs of Jennifer and Nicole’s royal blues to the lows of whatever the hell awful color Emily Blunt was wearing…
Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé
Embed from Getty ImagesI keep going back and forth on this one. I adore the color and the unique texture. And the bow is basically something only Nicole could pull off. But the “rabbit ears” bust throws me. If it were a bit less Jessica Rabbit I think I would be 100% on board. As it stands…I’m at 92%.
Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace
Embed from Getty ImagesI love, love, love Jennifer Garner and want the best for her and hated that she married Ben Affleck who’s clearly a real dick and it thrills me that she looks so radiant here and this is definitely not a run on sentence.
Emily Blunt in Schiaparelli
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is absolutely one of my least favorite looks from Sunday night. The color is anemic and musty and the Swiss dots and lace harness are far too twee.
Kelly Marie Tran in Jenny Packham
Embed from Getty ImagesHoly cow…that’s a lot of cleavage. I think I need 10% less from her. The rest of the dress is really lovely, but her cup size plus that deep of a V-neck steers this into cartoonish territory.
Betty Gabriel in Tony Ward
Embed from Getty ImagesAnd speaking of too much of a V-neck, this gown is a fantastic color and the detailing is so interesting, but it’s completely derailed by the two sides of the top running away from each other as fast as they can.
Helen Mirren in Reem Acra
Embed from Getty ImagesHelen Mirren playing Vanna White with a jet ski was easily one the highlights of a mostly dull telecast. She looks stellar as always, although I would argue that her neckline is fighting with her $3.8 MILLION IN SAPPHIRES. Wear a v-neck, let the jewels shine!
Mirai Nagasu in Tadashi Shoji
Embed from Getty ImagesMirai! She landed the triple axel in Pyeonchang – did she stick the landing on the red carpet?! Basically, yes! This is very pretty, if a tad “Elsa” (an apt comparison). I do wish she’d fully lined it – in certain shots the visible slip coming only to the knee really ruins the flow of the dress.
