Meghan and Harry attended the Comonwealth Youth Forum reception together – a big vote of confidence for the almost royal. Part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, the reception was an opportunity for Meghan and Harry to meet exceptional youth from across the Commonwealth.

Things I like here:
- Meghan is getting a lot of responsibility very quickly! Good for her, and for us royal watchers!
- Her Tamara Mellon pumps are awesome. They’re interesting and sexy and I would love to see Kate borrow these sometime.
- Her Oroton crossbody bag. I’m a sucker for stripes.
Things I don’t like:
- Everything else.
None of the pieces here are bad necessarily, but the styling is way off. First of all, this seems really casual for an event this important. Her Altuzarra apron style dress is cute, but would be more at home at a casual summer garden party. The blazer seems completely unnecessary, especially worn haphazardly over her shoulders where it’s fighting with the crossbody bag. I wish she had just put the blazer on, or even gone for a quirkier 90’s style look and worn a thin turtleneck under the dress (I assume she needed to cover her shoulders for modesty). This is Meghan’s first real swing and a miss for me.
