Golden Globes 2019: The Best of the Rest

By the time I finish up the Golden Globes coverage, it will be time for the Critics’ Choice Awards tomorrow night…

Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein by Appointment

She is such a goddess. Calvin Klein has been hit and miss lately but this is divine.

Danai Gurira in Rodarte

The whole “Black Panther” cast looked fabulous – Danai and Lupita in particular have had an amazing year in fashion promoting this film. Rodarte has also somewhat won me over recently – I feel like I’ve said “Wow, this is actually a good Rodarte” more in the last year than…ever.

Taraji P. Henson in custom Vera Wang

She is too fabulous. I love this look, but can’t tell if it’s black/gray-ish or dark green? If it’s green, I immediately love in 25% more.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge in custom Galvan

I just finished “Killing Eve”, which Phoebe wrote and produced. It was good – I watched it all in 2 days. It had interesting and diverse female characters, great acting, fun locations, but I didn’t love it the way most other people did – the tonal shifts threw me off too much. I DO love this custom creation from Galvan though.

Octavia Spencer in Christian Siriano

Has Octavia literally ever looked bad on a red carpet? She went through a “more of the same” streak when she was only wearing Tadashi Shoji, but Siriano is a great match for her and she looks phenomenal.

Camilla Belle in Jason Wu

Camilla Belle is a mystery to me – she hasn’t been in a movie since 2017 and she seems to make her career from going places in pretty clothes, which in her defense, she does really well. Exhibit A is this fabulous Jason Wu – although I have major objections to her OTT eye shadow.

Allison Janney in Christian Siriano

I had picked this teal Siriano gown for Laurie Metcalf to wear to the 2018 Emmy’s, but it looks equally fabulous on Allison Janney, who just gets sexier and sexier with age.

Judith Light in Christian Siriano

Speaking of getting sexier and sexier with age, Judith Light is just the BEST. And no one vamps better than her on the red carpet.

Michelle Yeoh in custom Shiatzy Chen

This is such an interesting dress. Shiatzy Chen is a Taiwanese designer who I hadn’t heard of before, but has apparently been around since 1978. You don’t see leather a lot on the more formal red carpets, and the mixing of fabrics here is very interesting. Also apparently she owns, and wore, the famous engagement ring from “Crazy Rich Asians”. Baller move.

Another great round up. Agree with you on most , but really liked Isla’s dress.
