The SAG’s were pretty evenly divided between stars that looked great, stars that looks meh, and stars that looked….not great. Let’s take a look at the folks who killed it.
Rachel Weisz in Givenchy
Embed from Getty ImagesThis Givenchy is one of my favorite things Rachel has worn and a high from Clare Waight Keller’s recent collection. I almost wish she’d saved it for the Oscars – it was actually on my shortlist (which has become QUITE the long list) of prospective looks for my Oscars Fantasy Stylist post. Let’s hope Rachel keeps it up for the rest of awards season.
Gemma Chan in Oscar de la Renta
Embed from Getty ImagesJust, tremendously fun. It put a smile on my face, even though I’m somewhat over the hi-lo trend in general.
Danai Gurira in Ralph and Russo
Embed from Getty ImagesElegant, glamorous, flawless.
Awkwafina in Mimi Plange
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is the best she’s ever looked. It took her a while to nail down her personal style, but “elegant with an edge” is definitely working for her.
Julia Garner in Zac Posen
Embed from Getty ImagesSo elegant. Very Charles James.
Jane Fonda in Valentino
Embed from Getty ImagesI’m gonna take issue with the incongruous beige pumps, but otherwise this is fabulous.
Sophia Bush in Monique Lhuillier
Embed from Getty ImagesPolka dots? A cape? Yes, please!
Mandy Moore in Jason Wu
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is classic and lovely, and much better than a lot of what she’s worn lately.
Sandra Oh in Jenny Packham
Embed from Getty ImagesGorgeous color, draping, and beading. I’d kill for a sleeker hair style though.
Megan Mullaly in Alexander McQueen
Embed from Getty ImagesApparently Megan Mullaly buys all her own red carpet gowns because no designers are interested in dressing her, which is RIDICULOUS! What’s not ridiculous is that she has great taste and picked a fabulous McQueen to invest in. But seriously – someone give Megan a call and get her some gowns!
Emily Osment in Rachel Gilbert
Embed from Getty ImagesTotally classic – she can look back on this in 30 years and it will still be a win.
Melissa McCarthy in Iorane
Embed from Getty ImagesMelissa has been KILLING it this awards season! I hadn’t heard of this brand before, but their stuff is super cute, not terribly expensive, and you can snag Melissa’s dress here if you want!
Susan Kelechi Watson in Christian Siriano
Embed from Getty ImagesWhen I saw this in Christian Siriano’s recent collection I was hoping someone would wear it and Susan is a goddess in it.
