Gucci actually fits this event (LACMA Art and Film Gala) really well. But that doesn’t mean some of what they foisted on people wasn’t still insane. Unless otherwise noted, everyone is wearing Gucci.

Salma Hayek
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is the best she’s looked in Gucci in a long time. Salma’s husband, Francois-Henri Pinault is the Chairman of the luxury goods group that owns Gucci, among others, so she wears the brand often. She has an undeniably gorgeous figure, but she often stuffs it into too-tight, too-buttoned up, too-twee looks. This is certainly a whole lot of look, but it fits and the 80’s vibe is fun on her, so I’ll count it as a win.
Dakota Johnson
Embed from Getty ImagesDakota has been wearing almost exclusively Gucci for a while now, and like Salma this is a brand partnership high for her. Yes, she looks like she just walked off the set of Dynasty after throwing a cocktail in somebodies face, but in a good way.
Kim Kardashian in Tom Ford
Embed from Getty ImagesLike, is she even trying here? Think how interesting it would have been to see her in one of Gucci’s neon 80’s confections. It would have been fun and unexpected, but instead we get same old shirtless Kim.
Zoe Saldana
Embed from Getty ImagesThis flamenco inspired number has a lot going on, and few people have the panache to carry it off well. Zoe is apparently one of those people. I don’t particularly like it, but I respect it.
Jared Leto
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is just a Monday trip to the supermarket for him…
Lindsey Vonn
Embed from Getty ImagesI LOVE this little English rose garden of a dress. No offense to Lindsey, but this is a slam dunk and I am surprised they didn’t give it to someone who would get a bit more attention in it.
Amy Adams
Embed from Getty ImagesThis is the TWEE-est of twee. I like it on her though.
Hari Nef
Embed from Getty ImagesThis one just cracks me up. It’s very “Scarlett O’Hara goes crazy on some drapes”. Although this is coming from the woman who wore a Gucci covered in terrifying baby heads to the Emmy’s that still haunts my dreams.
Rowan Blanchard
Embed from Getty ImagesRowan is 16 years old, and is pulling this drum majorette meets Laura Ashley look surprisingly well.
Eva Chow
Embed from Getty ImagesI’m not familiar with Ms. Chow, but love the beading on this sumptuous velvet gown. Like with Ms. Vonn, I am wondering why a bigger star didn’t get their hands on this one. Wouldn’t this have been very arresting and different on Kim K. or Zoe Saldana?
Charlotte Casiraghi
Embed from Getty ImagesI appreciate that the one Royal in attendance chose a very decadent, princess-y gown. This is lovely, she looks like she stepped out of a trippy, technicolor, 1920’s movie.
Michelle Alves
Embed from Getty ImagesStomach Macaws? Shoulder Pineapples? What doesn’t this dress have!? This is peak Gucci crazy, but sort of adore it.
